| AIM-Plan AI-Driven Engineering Intelligence for Automated Manufacturing Planning | Haluk Gökmen | Industrial companies, SMEs, Universities, etc. | SMART countries except Türkiye | Manufacturing companies increasingly face the challenge of rapidly translating engineering designs into accurate production plans. In industries such as automotive wiring harness manufacturing, engineers manually interpret technical drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and engineering documentation to identify manufacturing operations, calculate standard production times (MTM), and estimate workforce, workstation, and equipment requirements. This process is labour-intensive, error-prone, and difficult to repeat whenever engineering revisions occur. The AIM-Plan project aims to develop an AI-powered Engineering Intelligence Platform that automatically transforms engineering documentation into structured manufacturing knowledge. By combining Computer Vision, multimodal Large Language Models (LLMs), document understanding, and manufacturing knowledge models, the platform will identify production operations, generate MTM-based manufacturing times, estimate production capacity, and create digital manufacturing planning data with minimal human intervention. The solution will significantly accelerate engineering change assessment, quotation preparation, and production planning while improving accuracy and enabling seamless integration with digital manufacturing ecosystems, including PLM, ERP, MES, APS, and Digital Twin platforms. Although the first industrial validation will focus on automotive wiring harness manufacturing, the proposed methodology will be designed as a generic AI framework applicable across multiple manufacturing sectors. |

This increases part count, cost, leak points, energy losses and maintenance needs. UNI-VALVE will develop a universal hydraulic valve that adapts to the machine's load cycle and integrates these functions into a single component. The valve will be designed using a physics-based digital twin, produced with metal additive manufacturing, and assessed for manufacturing, operation and maintenance cost. The prototype will be validated on LEMMI, a full-scale mobile machine research platform at Aalto University. The first use case targets mobile work machines (forestry, cranes, construction), but the methodology will be reusable for other hydraulic components and industries. |
