Advanced numerical solutions and experimental deflection measuring devices for an efficient stamping tool cambering

S0109 - CAMBER

Tool and press elastic deflections are not currently considered during the design of stamping tools for the automotive industry. To counteract this effect the active surfaces of tools are cambered based on previous experiences. The available experience is not valid for new materials and tool set‐up time and cost are significant. Partners will develop advanced deflection measuring devices based on fiber optic technology to precisely quantify the elastic deformations suffered by the forming presses and the stamping tools. Using these measurements the consortium will work jointly to stablish a new cambering methodology based on cutting‐edge finite element numerical models considering elastic deformations. All these achievements will be validated in a real environment using two new intelligent tools and a novel 4.0 press concept.
