Abstract
TOPAS2 will develop an innovation produced by a pan-European value chain, incorporating European key enabling technologies! These thickness Optimized Parts for Aerospace Structures are representing a very high complexity in shape and material combinations. High performance aerospace alloys are manufactured by modern/novel technologies (3D roll forming, additive layer manufacturing) into future products with outstanding USP. TOPAS2 consortium is incorporating all actors from European Manufacturing ecosystem (LE, SME, RTO) as well as is well-structured along the value chain – from materials via processing to aircraft OEM’s design & testing. The beneficial Property-to-Weight-Ratio and advantageous life-cycle-assessment values are attractive for improved light weight design of structural aircraft parts. Furthermore, significantly reduced resources and costs are aimed at, since the TOPAS2 approach is characterized by a very high material efficiency in all its single processes. This will lead to a particularly attractive fly-to-buy ratio of up to 90%, in other words a very low scrap content. Altogether, TOPAS2 is strengthening European industry AND providing positive environmental impact.
