Abstract
The PRISM project aims to revolutionize industrial monitoring and optimization by developing self-powered IoT sensors with Energy Harvesting capabilities. These sensors, integrated with advanced AI and closed-loop control, will provide real-time insights into the condition of ball bearings in industrial machinery such as CNC machines and presses. The project’s scientific breakthroughs include autonomous energy-efficient sensors and predictive maintenance algorithms, significantly reducing machine downtime and operational costs. By enhancing machining precision and extending component lifespans, PRISM fosters sustainable manufacturing. Socio-economic benefits include improved resource efficiency, reduced environmental impact, and bolstered competitiveness for manufacturers. This 30-month initiative unites expertise in IoT, AI, and manufacturing to deliver scalable, market-ready solutions for smart industries.
