The proposed project aims to develop an innovative additive manufacturing multi-step system that integrates Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) directly on top of components produced using Selective Laser Melting (SLM). By leveraging the precision of SLM for intricate geometries and the scalability and cost-efficiency of WAAM for bulk deposition, the project seeks to optimize manufacturing processes for large-scale, complex components, particularly in aerospace, oil and gas, and energy sectors. This integration will help reduce material waste, lower energy consumption, and minimize production time, promoting more sustainable manufacturing practices. Through advanced simulation, real-time monitoring, and innovative repair methodologies, the project will improve component lifespan and reduce reliance on resource-intensive production methods. This collaboration between SMEs and universities ensures seamless integration of both technologies, positioning the consortium to lead the next wave of additive manufacturing advancements. The project will also establish a clear pathway to industrial-scale applications, ensuring its commercial viability and global impact.
