Abstract
The EcoPTFE project is a three-year international applied research and development project focused on the development of fluorine-free self-lubricating sliding films for heavy-duty engineering and automotive applications. The project responds to growing environmental and regulatory pressure on the use of fluorinated polymers while striving to maintain functional equivalence with existing Metaloflon PTFE films. The project integrates the development of polymer and additive systems, independent material testing, and industrial prototyping and validation within a single European innovation chain. In addition to the research and benchmarking partners, T&R Bioeko (PL) strengthens the implementation pathway by providing pilot-scale manufacturing and preliminary screening of PET-based technical films with reduced coefficient of friction, supplying reproducible film lots for independent verification and subsequent industrial integration. The project will result in a verified fluorine-free sliding film ready for industrial implementation and subsequent commercialization.
