Abstract
Read Less At OEMs, geometric validation activities during the vehicle body styling phase are highly repetitive, and in each new vehicle programme the styling typically undergoes around 30 design changes. During the style of feasibility and validation phase, the vehicle body includes on average approximately 50 style feasibility engineering sections at different locations. For every vehicle programme and for each styling change, these sections must be manually designed and repeatedly reused by designers, leading to long iteration cycles and high engineering effort. To address this challenge, the project aims to develop a new system / Artificial Intelligence (AI) assistant based on Machine Learning (ML) and Generative AI (GenAI) approaches to automate the design and geometric validation iterations that are currently performed manually. In this way, an automated system capable of generating feasibility sections based on new inputs for each new styling update or vehicle programme will be realised. The solution is to reach TRL 6 by the end of the project and to be ready for TRL 7+ deployment thereafter. Expected results include a ≥50% reduction in feasibility time for selected sections, reduced manual checking, and improved standardisation. The project outcomes will address potential customers among automotive OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, and engineering service providers using the Siemens NX CAD program.
