Abstract
This application consist of monitoring the condition of a clutch-brake by measuring the wearing of the pads that are exposed to friction, as well as measuring temperature at friction point while clutching, allowing a predictive maintenance based on continuous wear control, what will provide a high added value solution to the companies participating in this proposal, and specifically to the company leading the proposal, which is a clutch-brakes producer. Furthermore, the developed solution provides, by combining the sensors data, control the optimal operating conditions. The proposed solution consist of an autonomous and wireless smart sensor that will include a distance transducer, a temperature transducer, an energy harvester, a communications module and low power electronics to control both data processing and data transmission. The proposal fit within “Advanced Manufacturing Processes”, adding self monitoring capabilities to an, up to know, totally mechanical system, and communicate with centralized digital controllers.
